My Best 5, 50 or 500 Word Story
CALLING: Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6
DUE DATE: Submit your entry to your Class Teacher by Morning Registration on Monday 24th June 2024
BRIEF: Children from The Devonshire Hill Nursery & Primary School are invited to participate in a special Learning in Tottenham (LIT) writing competition alongside other educational settings. They must choose whether to write a 5, 50 or 500 word story according to their age and ability. The story can be on any subject or topic or their choice and 5 word stories can be accompanied by illustration to support the story-telling.
All Stories must be:
- Either 5, 50 or 500 words or less (title is not included in the number)
- Written by an individual child and not a group of children
- A child’s own original idea
- Prose, not rap or poem
All stories will be judged on character, plot, originality, language and enjoyment.
We can’t wait to see your fantastic entries, winners will be informed during the week of Monday 15th July… good luck!
National Thank A Teacher Day

DUE DATE: Post your card(s) to the school post box by morning registration on Friday 21 June 2024
BRIEF: Design a beautiful card in celebration of National Thank A Teacher Day, your card can be for any member of staff or team within the school. The most colourful and creative cards will be hung pride of place for visitors to see and to celebrate all of the fantastic staff in our school. Post your card(s) into our school post box and remember to include who your card is to and from: name & class.
GUIDANCE:
- must be handmade
- must be vibrant
- must include a message and your name and class
- can submit as many cards as you like
Drowning Prevention Week – Water Safety Poster
CALLING: Nursery, Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6
DUE DATE: Submit your entry to your Class Teacher by Morning Registration on Friday 21 June 2024
BRIEF: Design a water safety poster for a special water safety award to mark the importance of Water Safety Week. To access your free Water Safety Booklet and useful resources visit the Royal Life Saving Society website.
Your Poster must be:
- Colourful and eye catching
- Illustrated using any chosen materials
- Informative
Children needing materials such as colouring pencils or paper can speak with their Class Teacher who will be happy to support by loaning items to help you to participate.
