Nursery parents/carers are invited to attend our Stay and Read sessions to share a story with your child in the classroom. Stay and read sessions take place every Tuesday from 8.45am or 12:15pm.

Children in Year 6 will attend a trip to the Nanak Darbar Sikh Temple as part of their current religious education topic, ‘Living Sikh Traditions’. All children must wear full school uniform and bring a packed lunch to school on this day.

Devonshire Hill is an anti-bullying school. In light of this, we are pleased to announce that we will be highlighting Anti-Bullying Week. The week’s activities will raise awareness of: how to talk about our worries, using a worry box, Anchor values, different types of bullying, how to recognise bullying, how to report bullying, bullying and the law. All children and staff are encouraged to come to school wearing odd socks for ‘Odd Socks Day’. On this day we highlight that being unique is important and together we stand against bullying and discrimination. All donations will go towards anti bullying resources for our school. Individual photographs will be taken on Tuesday 17 November. If you have multiple children in the school and you require a photo of your children together you must complete the request form before Monday 16th November. All children must attend school in full school uniform for the photo day. PE or Forest School clothing should be brought separately if required. Details will follow nearer the time to inform you how to view and purchase photos from this year’s photography company Vancols.

Reception families are invited to join us for a short informative session about reading in Reception. During the session we will discuss the importance reading, information about our school's reading programme and resources. We will also provide information about and how you can support your child with their reading at home.

Children in Year 5 and Year 6 will be invited to attend cycle training. Limited places are available on this 5 day course. More information will follow, including a registration form, closer to the time.

Year 2 Diamond Class will perform in a special sharing assembly for their parents/carers. During the performance children will showcase their most recent learning. We hope you will be able to join us.

By annual tradition, children in Year 1 to Year 6 are invited to experience a pantomime this festive season. This year we welcome 'Stage-ed' to perform Aladdin at Devonshire Hill. Tickets to attend cost £6 per child. We are unable to accommodate parents/carers at this event.

All children and staff are encouraged to wear a winter themed jumper for this national event in aid of ‘Save the Children’. Jumpers are to be worn over your school uniform for a £2 donation. All donations are payable via the Arbor School Shop or the donation bucked on the day. All funds raised at our annual Christmas Jumper Day event will be shared equally between Save the Children and the DH FUNdraiser.

Step into a magical festive celebration with a special Christmas themed feast. If your child usually has packed lunch and would like a School Meal on this occasion please contact the Office to let them know before the event day.

All children must complete at least one home learning project each half term. A star will be awarded for the star chart to acknowledge all incredible home learning efforts. A printed copy of your child’s Home Learning Passport will be sent home during the first week of each half term - this is also available via the school website: https://devonshirehill.com/our-learning/home-learning/. Please follow the instructions carefully as most projects are now uploaded as an image to Google Classroom.
