This term our Year 6 pupils attended ‘Teen Tech’ a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) competition at the Emirates Stadium. Before attending the pupils had to design and make their own ‘City of Tomorrow’. They designed a collection of buildings which could together form a futuristic city. The models were judged at the event by a group of judges, including two celebrity judges: Maggie Philbin OBE and Dallas Campbell. The judges were particularly impressed with how confident and articulate the pupils were when presenting their ideas. We went on to win awards in a staggering seven out of the twelve categories, including ‘Best Domestic Space’, ‘Most Environmentally Friendly Building’ and ‘Most Innovative Building’. Throughout the rest of the day the pupils enjoyed a stadium tour and various STEM activities including learning how to code the game Minecraft, playing Tetris using electronic watermelon controllers and engineering a giant dome. Well done to our budding scientists – we are very proud of you all!
