Dear Parents/Carers,
As part of our History curriculum, Year 1 will be attending a school trip:
Location: Bruce Castle www.brucecastle.org/
Date: Amethyst Class – Monday 17 March
Emerald Class – Tuesday 18 March 2025
Travel: Walking
We will be leaving school after lunch at 1:15pm and returning to school before the end of the school day.
What happens on the trip?
During their visit, the children will ‘Meet ‘new’, ‘old’ and ‘very old’ teddies and get busy sorting a range of wooden, metal and plastic toys to discover how children’s play has changed over time.’ We will explore life in the past with the opportunity to handle objects as well as ask and answer questions relevant to our current history lessons.
Contribution:
We are asking for a £2.50 contribution towards this trip. This will cover the cost of the workshop.

Please note the following:
- Children will need a refillable bottle of water for this trip.
- Children must be dressed in full school uniform, including black school shoes.
- Please ensure they are also prepared for the current weather. A waterproof jacket must be provided.
