Congratulations to Year 2 Sapphire class for their recent success in a competition organised by ‘The Mall – Wood Green’. Children from Year 2 to Year 6 were asked to suggest a name for our local shopping centre’s recent eco project. The newly named roof garden is part of a project to create a ‘green corridor’ along the busy high street and to create spaces for wildlife amongst the busy urban space. Next time you visit, see if you can spot the roof garden which will proudly be named ‘Peaceful Green’ as suggested by the children in Sapphire Class. The school’s contribution will be included on a plaque in the window of the roof garden, which can be seen from inside the shopping centre. Year 3 Coral class were runners up with their suggestion of ‘ The Bugs are Coming Home’ and will get a special mention too. Our school have been offered a generous £200 to spend towards an eco/environmental project in our school. The children are very excited and have suggested a wildlife pond would be a great addition so that we can care for frogs, newts and other water wildlife. Watch this space!
