Welcome Back – Autumn 2 Events

Dear Parent/Carer,

We hope that all families and staff enjoyed a restful October half term break. A warm welcome back is extended to everyone as the Autumn 2 Term begins.

There’s lots to look forward to from now until December including:

  • New home learning passports
  • Celebration Assemblies (Monday KS2 and Friday KS1)
  • Open Day Tours for prospective families
  • Anti-Bullying week (next week)
  • A variety of creative competitions/activities – dipping pond designs / poppy making / festive cards
  • Individual photo day
  • Beauty and the Beast Pantomime – tickets will go on sale shortly at £5 per child
  • Winter/Christmas Jumper Day
  • EYFS Winter Production for Nursery and Reception families
  • Trumpet and Singing Concerts

We encourage all families to subscribe to the school calendar and check back regularly for updates, especially during this busy time of year. Visit www.devonshirehill.com/events/list/ – when using a mobile device, tapping each event name will provide full details of each event.

Below are a few reminders as we begin the new half term:

Term dates are available on the school website – please remind yourself of dates prior to booking any holidays to avoid any unauthorised absences.

Punctuality – The gates open at 8:45am, the school day begins at 8:55am. This term we will be looking to award our most improved attenders – this includes improved punctuality and reduced lateness.

Attendance – In line with the school’s Attendance and Absence Policy, if your child is unable to attend school  for any reason, a parent/carer must contact the school before the start of the school day on each day of absence. You can report your absence either by:

Telephone: 0208 808 2053  Email: attendance@devonshirehill.haringey.sch.uk   Arbor: In-App Messages

Our new Attendance webpage has lots of useful information which we will continue to develop in order to offer lots of helpful information to our families. www.devonshirehill.com/parents/attendance/

Breakfast Club & After School Clubs are available to those requiring an earlier start and/or later finish time. Please book your place directly with Dalmage Active using the links provided on the school website: www.devonshirehill.com/parents/after-school-clubs/

Boosters Club is by invitation for Year 1 and 2 at 8.30am and for all children in Year 6 from 8am. Please ensure your child arrives in time for the start of their session.

Uniform, PE Kit or Forest School clothing should be worn on the relevant day and should be suitable for the colder weather. To view your child’s class timetable visit: www.devonshirehill.com/about-us/the-school-day/
Y3 – Y6 require a change of footwear for their lunchtime session on the school field. Children must change into old trainers/footwear for these sessions which take place every day.

Colder weather means that children should be wearing warmer layers as they will continue to play outside for breaktime and lunchtime. All children should bring to school a warm waterproof coat with a hood, in addition to this thick tights, wooly hat and gloves may also be considered. Please refer to the school’s Uniform Policy for guidance: www.devonshirehill.com/about-us/policies-reports/policies/

The lunch menu is provided by our catering company Olive Dining and the Autumn Menu is available on the school website: www.devonshirehill.com/parents/school-meals/

Open Day Tours are available every Tuesday and prospective families are encouraged to get in touch or to book online: www.devonshirehill.com/about-us/admissions/ If you have local family and friends please do invite them to attend.

Celebration Assembly continues to take place every Monday (KS2) & Friday (KS1) at 9.05am. There is an open invitation for all parents/carers are welcome to join us and help us to celebrate our achievements.

Communications are now shared via the Arbor app, all families must have access to Arbor to avoid missing out on important information. If you need support to activate your account then please visit the Office.

Year 6 Residential Trip to Flatford Mill – The booking deadline has now passed. The next installment is due to be paid by December.

As the school currently does not have a Parent/Staff Association, we are reliant on the generosity of our families to help us. Parent/carer volunteers are welcomed warmly to support any of this term’s events. Please get in touch if you are able to offer your skills. Our school can always benefit from the support of our fantastic families!

If you would be interested in setting up a Parents/Staff Association, speak with Ms Hayley.

We are very excited for the events of Autumn 2 Term and look forward to updating you in our next newsletter.
Yours sincerely,
Julie D’Abreu | Headteacher
