Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform you that Year 6 children will start weekly swimming lessons during the Summer Term.
Lessons will take place during term time and within the school day as follows:
Ammolite Class – 1.30pm – 2.30pm weekly from Thursday 5 June to Thursday 17 July
Azore Class – 1.30pm – 2.30pm each week from Friday 6 June to Friday 18 July
Swimming is a statutory requirement of the school curriculum, therefore, all children are required to attend. In line with guidance from the Department for Education (DFE) children in primary schools are taught to:
- Swim confidently over a distance of at least 25 metres
- Use a range of strokes effectively
- Perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations
Please provide your child with the following items:
- 1 piece swimming costume/trunks
- swimming hat
- towel
- goggles are allowed
Please ensure that your child has a waterproof coat for travelling in all weather conditions. We will enjoy an early lunch and leave school at 12.45pm.
Children and staff will walk to Duke’s Aldridge Academy and will return to school on the bus at around 3.15pm. If your child has packed lunch please ensure that this is healthy and nutritious.
Please follow this link to complete an electronic permission form
by morning registration on Friday 16 May.
Below are some top tips to help you prepare for your swimming lessons.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Anisowicz | Year 2 Class Teacher and Leader for PE
