Dear Parents/Carers,
The Phonics Screening Check for Year 1 children will take place during the week of Monday 9 June.
The Phonics Screening Check contains 40 words divided into two sections. Both sections contain a mixture of real words and pseudo-words. As part of this assessment, children are asked to independently read each word to a teacher.
You can help your child prepare for their Phonics Screening Check by practising the letter sounds (phonics) which they have learned throughout Reception and Year 1.
