Y4 History Trip – The Roman Empire
Dear Parents/Carers,
As part of their History Topic, The Roman Empire, Year 4 Garnet Class will be attending a school trip:
Location: Bruce Castle Museum
Date: Thursday 29 January 2026
Travel: Walking
We will be leaving school at 1:30pm and returning to school before the end of the school day.
What happens on the trip?
During their visit, the children will explore original Roman artefacts that were bought from the Roman Empire to Britain and how these items (new technologies) impacted life in Britain.
The objects have come from many parts of the world but would have been used across London and Britain in the Roman period. The workshops will also explore more locally and how roads, coins and Roman inventions impacted the local area, including finds from Broadwater Farm and Highgate woods.
Contribution:
We are asking for a £2.50 contribution towards this trip. This will cover the cost of the Roman Workshop.
As we are a cashless school, payment should be made via the Arbor App: Trips
Please note the following:
- Children will need a refillable bottle of water for this trip.
- Children must be dressed in full school uniform, including black school shoes.
- Please ensure they are also prepared for the current weather. A waterproof jacket must be provided.
Yours Sincerely,
Cassandra Alexis – Garnet Class Teacher
