Dear Parents/Carers,
As part of the history curriculum, learning about significant historical events, people and places in their own locality. Year 1 will be attending a school trip:
Location: Bruce Castle Museum: www.brucecastle.org/
Date: Friday 15th March 2024
Travel: Walking
Emerald Class will be leaving school at 9.15am and Amethyst Class will leave school at 10.15am. Both classes will return to school to have lunch as usual.
What happens on the trip?
During our visit to Bruce Castle, we will attend the ‘School Days’ workshop as a link to our most recent History learning. The children will journey back in time to discover how Bruce Castle was once a school. Taking part in role play, pupils will dress up as Victorian school children and experience writing on slates to compare it to their own classroom.
£2.50 Contribution:
We are asking for a £2.50 contribution towards this trip. This will cover the cost of the ’School Days’ workshop workshop.
Please note the following:
- Children must be dressed in full school uniform, including black school shoes.
- All children should have a refillable bottle of water on the day of this trip.
- Please ensure your child is also prepared for the current weather. A waterproof jacket must be provided.
Yours Sincerely,
Phoebe Simmonds & Caleen Davis-Moore | Year 1 Class Teachers
