Friday 17th May 2024
Dear Parent/Carer,
We are excited to inform you that this Monday 20th to Friday 24th May our school will be celebrating ‘Walk to School Week’. This is an exciting initiative which was a great success last year after being adopted by our child led School Council.
Haringey Council are asking for families to ‘Get Out and Get Active’ and have provided some resources for your family to make use of at home. These will be sent home with children in Reception to Year 6.
Why Walk to School Week:
During this week all families and staff attending our school are encouraged to walk, scoot or cycle to school. The purpose of this active travel is to:
- Increase road safety awareness for our children
- Encourage exercise and healthy lifestyle
- Reduce emissions and pollution
- Enjoy the wildlife surrounding us
- Remind our families of the ‘School Street’ restrictions and the purpose behind them: www.new.haringey.gov.uk/streets-roads-travel/travel/smarter-travel/school-streets
Bike/Scooter Storage:
We are very fortunate to have access to bike and scooter storage spaces which our families are very welcome to make use of. If storing your bike/scooter at the school please ensure that you are using a padlock to secure your item and please understand that the school can not be responsible for the security of these items.
We very much look forward to seeing our children making their way to school over the course of next week and for the weeks ahead, especially now that the weather is much warmer.
Yours sincerely,
Julie D’Abreu | Headteacher
