Reception Celebration Assembly
Dear Parent/Carer,
As part of our transition programme from EYFS into KS1, Opal and Pearl Class will join Celebration Assembly from Summer Term. Assemblies take place each Friday at 9:05am starting with our Attendance celebration on Friday 17 April 2026.
When will my child receive an award?
Reception parents/carers will be informed of their child’s achievement and will receive an invitation to join the assembly audience via an Arbor App message. All families are invited to join and support the assemblies even if it is not the week that your child is being presented with an award. The four types of certificate are awarded on rotation with a different theme each week.
Anchor Awards: Empowerment, Purpose, Belonging and Achieving make up our Anchor Resilience Wheel. These are the four certificates to collect to make up the Resilience wheel.
Curriculum Awards: Each week the Class Teacher will select two children who are making exceptional progress within an area of the Early Years Curriculum.
This also includes reading awards. Bronze, Silver & Gold awards are presented for reading 10, 20, and 30 books, completed books should be recorded in your child’s home/school reading record.
Star Awards: Children will begin collecting stats for their star chart, these are awarded by the class teacher for exceptional work including home learning. Once 10 stars have been collected, a Yellow Star Award is presented with a badge to wear on the school jumper.
Attendance Awards: There are two types of attendance awards presented at the start of each new term: 100% Attendance and Most Improved Attendance.
House Points: All children in the school have been assigned to one of the four ‘houses’ Hodgkin, Lynch, Tull, or Wakefield. We will inform you shortly which house your child is in via the Arbor app. Children are able to collect house points awarded to them by their teacher or a member of the Leadership Team. All points are added up and the weekly winning house is awarded with the House Trophy.
Home Learning: All children in Reception will receive a Home Learning Passport during the first week of Summer 1 and Summer 2 Term. Children are required to complete at least one project from this passport. Projects are uploaded onto tapestry. Competition entries are given to your class teacher. Exceptional home learning projects are awarded with a star for the star chart. Find out more about our home learning on the school website: www.devonshirehill.com/our-learning/home-learning/.
We look forward to welcoming you into our assemblies over the duration of the Summer Term and hope that you will be able to join us.
Yours sincerely,
Julie D’Abreu | Headteacher
