05.09.2022 – Pendarren House Residential Trip

 Dear Parents/Carers,

I write with some final details regarding the residential trip run by Pendarren House in Wales. The trip is scheduled for Monday 26th September until Friday 30th September.
Please ensure that your child arrives at school at 6:45am on the morning of Monday 26th September.
This is to enable staff to check all of the children and their luggage onto the coach for a departure between 7:15 and 7:30am. The coach will be leaving at 7:30am sharp in order to avoid the morning rush hour traffic. If your child is not at school by this time the coach will leave without them and your fee for the trip will not be refunded.

Your child will be given the opportunity to purchase a DVD with a large collection of photographs from the trip for £2.50. Children are allowed to bring a reasonable amount of spending money (no more than £20) and this should be handed to your child’s group leader on Monday morning who will look after this across the week.

Children should not be bringing any electronic devices with them to Pendarren. Any devices that are found will be confiscated and handed back to parents upon our return to school on Friday.

Room inspections will take place on a daily basis with prizes for the best kept room. Bedtime will be at 8:30pm with final lights out at 9:15pm.

Below is an example of what a typical week will look like:

MondayArrival, Bush Craft, evening meal, Quiz night/ DVD and bedtime
TuesdayRoom inspection, breakfast, Big Pit, lunch, Canoeing, evening meal, Stories, night walk and bedtime.
WednesdayRoom inspection, breakfast, river study, lunch, river study, evening meal, karaoke and bedtime.
ThursdayRoom inspection, breakfast, horse riding, lunch, climb/abseil, evening meal, talent show and bedtime.
FridayBreakfast, Abergavenny Town Trail and travelling home.

We will be leaving on Friday at around 12:30pm and are hoping to be back at school by 5:00pm, weather and traffic permitting.

Parents/carers will be informed when the children have arrived at Pendarren House and the teachers attending the trip will be in regular contact with the school with updates on the exciting schedule of activities and the wellbeing of the children.  This information will be shared with parents/carers via text or Parentmail.

We hope that the information provided has answered any remaining questions you may have. However, if you have any further questions please speak to your child’s class teacher, myself or the school office.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of the Kit List (overleaf).

Yours sincerely,
Tina Georgiades | Deputy Headteacher

Photographs – a Pendarren camera will be allocated to each group and at the end of the week a DVD of all your school photos will be available to buy. Due to the environment the cameras are used in they do not last long, which is why we request pupils do not bring their own. The Pendarren cameras are purchased by the Friends of Pendarren and any proceeds from the sale of DVD’s goes to the Friends to purchase more resources for visiting pupils.
