Dear Parents/Carers,
We would like to remind you of an important safety matter concerning packed lunches for school
trips. It has come to our attention that, on several recent occasions, some children have brought food
items containing nuts on school outings. This poses a significant risk to pupils with severe nut
allergies. When away from school, access to emergency medical support may be more limited,
making it even more important to prevent potential allergic reactions.
At school, we work hard to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all children, and this
extends to off-site activities. The same nut-free policy that applies to lunches in school also applies
to packed lunches for trips. Please be especially mindful of this when preparing lunches for your child. For older children who may prepare or purchase their own food, we ask that you support them in making safe, nut-free choices.
By working together, we can ensure that all children have a safe and enjoyable experience on school
trips — including at lunchtime. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Yours sincerely,
Rachel Bates | Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion & SENDCo
