Dear Parent/Carer,
We have noticed that some children are bringing non school items to school in their backpacks. In the interests of the health and safety of all of our children, non-school items will be confiscated and will be available for collection by an adult at the end of the day. Please do not allow your child to bring any items to school that are not required for their learning, e.g. jewellery (rings, bracelets, necklaces), toys, smart watches etc. Furthermore, it would be helpful if you could please take a minute to check your child’s backpack and pockets before school to ensure nothing additional is inside. There are a growing number of children at school with allergies and Epi-pens for whom exposure to certain substances could cause a severe reaction.
The school’s preference is that children use a school branded backpack or a plain standard size backpack without minimal accessories attached. Children are only required to have a reading book/record and or library book in their bag (children in Year 4-6 also bring a sensible small pencil case for lessons). No other items are required other than snacks for Dalmage After School Club (in line with their food allergy policy). Packed lunches should be kept in a separate container/bag.
Please note that old shoes/trainers that children are changing into to go on the field can be left in school during the week on their coat peg in a carrier bag.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Yours sincerely,
Julie D’Abreu | Headteacher
