Dear Parent/Carer
In line with the requirements of Martyn’s Law and to continue to ensure the school environment remains safe for our children, staff and visitors, a ‘lockdown’ drill was carried out in school this morning.
This drill consisted of children staying in their classrooms and being quiet and out of sight. Teachers have been preparing the children (in an age appropriate manner) for this ‘lockdown’ drill over the past couple of weeks using different scenarios, e.g. staying safe if there was a fox in the building. I am pleased to report that this drill went very smoothly.
You may wish to ask your child about their experience today; this was a trial run to ensure that we are prepared for an emergency situation, should it arise.
Moving forward, lockdown drills will be practiced routinely across the academic year alongside our standard fire safety drills.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Tina Georgiades – Headteacher
