Dear parent/carer,
Starting in September all children in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will now be expected to bring their own pencil case to school. Our school will continue to provide both a black and green Inkjoy writing pen which children will keep safe in their pencil case. All pencil cases will be stored in school in your child’s named classroom tray so it is important that the provided pencil case is not too excessively large.
What contents should be in the pencil case?
The below items should be provided in your pencil case and children are responsible for looking after their belongings and keeping them safe:
- HB Pencil
- Pencil sharpener
- Eraser
- Ruler (small 15cm)
- Glue Stick
- Coloured Pencils (at least 4 colours including red and blue)
- Black and green Inkjoy pen & whiteboard pen- the school will provide these
Items which should not be included:
Please do note that the following items should not be in your pencil case and if provided they will be sent home: felt tip pens, scissors, gel/biro pens, highlighters, fountain pens, calculators, expensive accessories which are not essential to writing and learning, and any items which could cause a distraction in the classroom.
The children have been informed of this change which takes place in September and they are very excited to have their own pencil cases. We are confident that this change will encourage responsibility with the added spark of excitement towards writing in lessons. All items listed will be available in your local stationary shop or stationary section in your local supermarket.
Yours Sincerely,
Julie D’Abreu | Headteacher
