Important Letter From The Headteacher

Monday 9th November 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

As you are aware this school, along with most schools, is struggling to balance our budget. We have over recent years made a number of significant cuts to try to manage the school’s budget, always maintaining a very high level of teaching with good quality resources, a wide range of extra learning experiences along with consistent high expectations for your child/ren to be Successful Learners.

The school has worked hard to avoid restructuring and redundancy and has instead not replaced when colleagues have naturally left. However, this school, along with other local schools continues to have a reduction in pupil numbers, pupil premium and a number of other long term increases in costs resulting in the governors making the very difficult decision to restructure at senior level.  This means that from 1st January 2021 the leadership profile of the school will be as follows:

Headteacher – Julie D’Abreu

Deputy Headteacher – Tina Georgiades

Assistant Headteacher (SENDCo) – Rachel Bates

School Business Manager – Gary Wong

Anoria Simmons has opted for redundancy as proposed by the Governing Body and will be leaving the school on 31st December 2020 after what has been 21 years of dedicated service here at Devonshire Hill.  I know that you will all share with me and celebrate the time that Ms Simmons has devoted to our school and the education of so many of our children. Also that you will support Ms Georgiades as she moves into the role of Deputy Headteacher of our school.

It is always with great difficulty that decisions of this type are taken by the Governing Body.

Yours sincerely

Julie D’Abreu

Headteacher
