Chinese New Year Art Competition | 2025 Year of the Snake
Dear parent/carer,
Our school will be celebrating Chinese New Year of the snake, which takes place on Wednesday 29 January 2025. Across the week we will take part in a variety of activities, starting with a snake drawing competition.
Snake Drawing Competition
All children and their families are encouraged to participate in this competition which invites you to create a beautiful drawing or piece of art to the theme of the Chinese snake. Participants are encouraged to apply their own unique drawing style to effectively represent your perceptions of a snake. Your design can be inspired by either your own cultural context or by Chinese culture.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for vibrant, colourful drawings of snakes that demonstrate any of the following:
- celebrating the Chinese New Year
- performing, anything from dancing to juggling or singing
- holding a red envelope or lantern
- happy, friendly, smiling, laughing
- in 20 words or less, provide a short description about your New Year Snake
Drawing requirements:
The snake drawing must be drawn on A3 or A4 paper, make your drawing as large as possible to fill the page. Entries can be drawn using any materials, including but not limited to pencil, crayon, paint, collage etc.
All entries must be submitted to your Class Teacher by morning registration on Monday 27 January 2025.
As a reminder we will also take part in the following activities:
- Chinese New Year Dress up Day & Special Themed Lunch – wear your party outfit with a red accessory
Wednesday 29 January 2025 – donate £2 - Chinese New Year Performance by Y3, Y4, Y5 and the Head Boy & Head Girl
Wednesday 29 January 2025 – KS2 families welcome at 11:30-12:00 - Chinese New Year Performance by Y3, Y4, Y5 and the Head Boy & Head Girl
Thursday 30 January 2025 – all families welcome at 11:45-12:15
