Burglaries Prevention Advice
Dear Parent/Carer,
Please see the below advice from the local Met Police service Met Engage.
Dear residents,
We want to share a quick safety message with our community. There have been a few recent burglaries in surrounding boroughs where the same method has been used. Although elderly residents have been affected so far, we ask everyone to stay aware and look out for each other.
What to watch out for:
Someone asking to check water quality or a water leak. They may look well‑presented and speak confidently. They may say they are from the council or a water company. They might show ID such as a lanyard or laminated paper. They may ask to go into your kitchen and leave the front door unsecured. In some cases, they may have visited before to suggest an inspection.
If someone comes to your door unexpectedly:
Keep your door closed and speak through it or via a doorbell. Find the organisation’s phone number yourself and call to check. If you are unsure, call 101, or 999 if the person is still there. Do not let anyone into your home unless you are sure who they are. If someone says they are a police officer, you can call 101 to check their identity. Please share this message with neighbours, friends, and family, especially elderly residents. Looking out for one another helps keep our community safe.

Yours Sincerely,
