Dear Parent/Carer,

We are delighted to offer an exciting collection of events which will be taking place across the whole school in December. Many of these events are annual traditions at Devonshire Hill and they include parent/carer invitations.

MONDAY 28TH NOVEMBER

Star Decorations for the school tree
We can’t wait to see even more beautiful stars again this year! Everyone is invited to create beautiful star decorations. We have wooden stars which can be purchased via the ParentMail Shop for £1 and decorated at home. Remember to return your decoration to the Main Office so that it can be hung on the Christmas Tree.
Happy School Bag Collection
Please ensure that your clothing donations have been handed to the Main Office by Monday 28th November at the absolute latest. Any donations made after this time will be turned away as we have nowhere to store them.

TUESDAY 1ST DECEMBER

Christmas Tree Arriving
A huge thankyou to ‘Pines & Needles’ who have agreed to donate the school with a fresh cut tree again this year. They have also provided us with a discount code especially for our staff and families (full details will be available in our December newsletter).This year we will be raffling the Christmas Tree for one of our families to take home (stand/decorations/lights not included) more information will follow soon!

COMPETITION: Design the Mayor of Haringey’s Christmas/Seasons Greeting Card
The Mayor of Haringey has invited children at Devonshire Hill School to design a Christmas/Seasons Greetings Card for 2022. The winning design could be selected as the Mayor’s official Christmas Card this year.Submit designs to the Main Office by 3pm on  Thursday 1 December 2022 Design guidelines: INCLUDE YOUR NAME, AGE and SCHOOL on the reverse of the design (not in the artwork)/entries should be submitted on A5 sized paper (half fold a sheet of A4)/ can be landscape or portrait /can include drawings/ and should be eco friendly ie upcycled/natural materials/ no glitter / easily photographed for reproduction by printing

FRIDAY 2ND DECEMBER

Classroom Decorating
The children will decorate their classrooms for the festive season on Friday 2nd December. If you have any crafty items that you are able to donate in support of this cause please hand them to your class teacher.
Reception – Year 6 invitation*
Parents/carers are invited to help with decorating their child’s class from 2pm
*Garnet Class parent/carers will have a separate session at 11.15am due to children being at their swimming lesson in the afternoon.
DH Post Boxes Open for Cards
Post your greetings cards into the DH Post Box and they will be delivered to your friends and teachers. Please include a name and class on the envelope, any items without this information can not be delivered.
Final delivery will be:  Wednesday 14 December

THURSDAY 8TH DECEMBER

Winter Jumper Day
This year’s national event in aid of ‘Save the Children’ will be held on Thursday 8th December. Children and staff are invited to wear a winter themed jumper for the day. This is to be worn over your school uniform for a £2 donation. All donations are payable by cash in class on the day or by the Parent Mail Shop.
2023 Winter Jumper Calendar
In addition to our usual fundraising activities we will be creating 2023 Winter Jumper Calendars for those that pre order on the Parent Mail shop. To avoid disappointment orders must be placed by close of day on Wednesday 7th December. The A3 size calendar will be £5.00 with a ribbon to hang it. All funds raised will go towards new resources and events at Devonshire Hill Nursery & Primary School.
Christmas Lunch
Olive Dining will serve a traditional Christmas lunch on Thursday 8th December for children and staff to enjoy.  The cost of lunch, for those children not receiving free school meals, is £2.65.  The Christmas Menu can be seen at www.devonshirehill.com/parents/school-meals/
If your child usually has packed lunch and would like a School Meal on this day please contact the Main Office to let them know by Wednesday 7th December.

Snow White and the Seven Superheroes Panto | Year 2 at 10:00 | Year 3 at 13:00
On Thursday 8th December children will attend the local Millfield Theatre to see ‘Snow White and the 7 Superheroes on an amazing journey to reclaim her spot in the royal kingdom and defeat the wicked Queen once and for-all!’Children will be travelling by public transport and must wear school uniform under their christmas jumper, a warm waterproof coat and bring a bottle of water.Year 2 will have lunch at school upon their return.
Year 3 will return to school at 3.45pm please collect your child at this time.

On Friday 9th December children will attend the local Millfield Theatre to see ‘Snow White and the 7 Superheroes on an amazing journey to reclaim her spot in the royal kingdom and defeat the wicked Queen once and for-all!’

Children will be travelling by public transport and must wear school uniform, a warm waterproof coat and bring a bottle of water.

Year 4 will have lunch at school upon their return.
Year 5 will return to school at around 3.45pm please collect your child at this time.

MONDAY 12TH  DECEMBER

Please note that there are no after school clubs or booster sessions during the final week of term which is week commencing Monday 12th – Friday 16th December.

Bookings for the Spring Term Clubs will open soon!

TUESDAY 13TH DECEMBER

The Snowman Production – Nursery, Reception and Year 1
Parents/carers of Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and prospective families for 2023 are invited on Tuesday 13th December to watch their child perform in our Winter production of ‘The Snowman’’. There will be two performances:
11:00am – 11:45am and 2.15pm – 3.00pm
Please note that mobile phones must be off/on silent and kept in your pocket.

FRIDAY 16TH DECEMBER – LAST DAY OF TERM: School will finish at the usual times.

End of Autumn Term Seasonal Party

To mark the end of a successful term we will celebrate with a party on the last day. Children and staff are invited to come to school in their best party clothes. The school will provide entertainment including music, cinema and dancing. There will be no food at our party this year so please ensure that you pack your child with a healthy lunch if they are not having a school meal.
