23.07.2021 – Letter from the Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers

We are busy planning for September and we hope that will bring more normal times for us all. I will send out more details nearer to the time, so please check your email/text and on our school website at www.devonshirehill.com for information about your child’s return. We are aiming for all children to return on Monday 6th September at 8:45am except for Nursery and children in Opal Class (Reception) who will have their individual start date and times.

Contact Tracing

Although the new guidance from 19th July states that schools do not have to carry out contact tracing after the end of summer term, we will continue to have procedures in place so that families can notify the school should a student or staff test positive in the first 6 days after the term has ended.  This is because there could be vulnerable children or staff at risk should someone test positive and thus any positive cases within a class/group should be communicated to parents so that they are aware.   Please advise us via admin@devonshirehill.haringey.sch.uk.

Food Boxes for FSM children

The Mayor of London, in conjunction with Haringey Council, have provided food boxes for each of our free school meal children to take home today.  These boxes contain all the ingredients necessary (dry goods) to make a meal at home – enjoy!

Hand Sanitiser Gel

Unilever have donated small tubes of hand sanitizer gel for our children to use.  Children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 will take a tube home at the end of the day.

Water bottles

Children in Year 6 will also be given a water bottle and football character figurine to take home at the end of the day.

Reading

Please make sure that your child is reading every day, and for younger children that you are reading to them. It would be a lovely idea for your child to keep a diary over the summer that they can share with their teacher on their return to school in September.

I wish all our children and families a restful and safe summer holiday and I look forward to welcoming you back in September. Good luck to all our Year 6 children leaving and going onto their next chapter in their lifelong learning journey at their secondary school.

Take care and stay safe.

Yours sincerely
