01.02.2021 – Year 6 Live Lessons

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6 children.

Firstly I hope you are all keeping safe and that you and your families are keeping well.

Last week the school ran a review of remote learning. We are acutely aware of some of the challenges that parents face when trying to educate children at home whilst juggling work, other family members and generally managing during the pandemic and National Lockdown.  It is with this in mind that the school has decided to trial live lessons. This means that the year 6 teachers, Ms Baker and Mr Ellis are going to deliver some live teaching from tomorrow.

Your child will  be notified today if they are expected to attend. If they are then they will need to be ready and prepared to access a device to attend the class.  The timetable is as follows and your child will be notified of the sessions they need to attend, not all children will be attending all session.  The year 6 teachers may add to/change the timetable so please keep up to date with information coming from Ms Baker and Mr Ellis in regards to this.

YEAR 6 LIVE LEARNING

  • Tuesday  2nd February –  14:00-15:00 – Mr Ellis – Maths Misconceptions
  • Thursday 4th February  – 10:00-11:00 –  Miss Baker – English Writing – Task Setting and Developing Understanding
  • Thursday  4th February – 14:00-15:00 –  Mr Ellis – Maths Misconceptions
  • Friday 5th February         14:00-14:30 –  Miss Baker – PSHE/Reflection

Please note that the lessons may not take the full hour allocated, but this gives the date and times when we’d like to see the children online.  Children who are currently in school will  log on from in school to join the live session as required.

In preparation if you do not have a device, please contact the school today so we can support you. Do your best to provide your child with a quiet space where they can join the live lesson and be there to support them to join and access the lesson in the first instance. The lesson will be delivered via Google Meets and an invitation to join will be sent to your child.

Ms Baker & Mr Ellis will provide all the information that you need.

If you have any queries with this then please contact Ms Baker/Mr Ellis or the school.

I am looking forward to being able to offer live lessons to our year 6 children, especially in light of the Government’s announcement that schools will not open before March 8th. It is vital that year 6 children access as much learning as possible to support their transition to secondary school.

Yours Sincerely

Julie D’Abreu
