Learning in Tottenham (LIT)

The Devonshire Hill Nursery & Primary School is part of an educational network called LIT.

The Devonshire Hill Nursery & Primary School is part of a group of educational settings in Northeast Tottenham called the Learning in Tottenham (LIT) Education Network. Local nursery schools, children’s centres, schools and colleges work together with the aim of improving outcomes for all our pupils in a way that would be impossible to do working in isolation from one another.

LIT’s Vision:

“Learning in Tottenham (LIT) brings together our children’s centres, nurseries, schools and colleges to improve how we serve our children, young people and their families.
Our collaborative work ensures academic excellence for all, nurturing lifelong learners who are successful, confident and happy.

We believe that it is LIT’s commitment to excellence in education makes us a strong force for raising pupil standards in the borough of Haringey. Here’s why LIT stands out as a collaborative group of local schools:

LIT Collaboration:

Sharing Information

We understand the power of shared knowledge. The above schools work together to cultivate an environment where information flows seamlessly. Our commitment to transparency ensures that relevant information is readily available, fostering a collaborative community.

Sharing and Evaluating Good Practice Across All Phases

Excellence knows no limits. We actively promote the exchange of successful teaching methods and practices across all educational phases. Through collaboration and continuous evaluation, we strive for excellence in education.

Celebrating Achievements

Every success, big or small, deserves recognition. The LIT schools take pride in celebrating the achievements of our students, teachers, and the entire school community. It’s not just about academic success but also the personal and collective triumphs that make us unique.

Providing a Conduit Between the Local Authority, Educational Settings and others

Communication is key. We act as a conduit, facilitating effective communication between the key stakeholders in education – locally and nationally. This ensures that insights, feedback, and ideas are shared to benefit the entire educational ecosystem.

Benefit to Pupils:

Schools working together, as they do in LIT, are capable of so much. Here are just a few examples of our joint work…

Academic Excellence

At the heart of LIT is a dedication to academic excellence. Our aim as a group of schools is to create an engaging learning environment that challenges and inspires students to achieve their best.

Innovative Programmes

Our joint work means that we can be more innovative than just a school working alone. An example is a programme to inspire pupils towards university. We call it Tottenham University and children get the chance to meet inspirational role models, visit motivating places and at the end of the year we take them to Oxford University for a tour of a college to see what university life is like.

Our aim is to offer a holistic educational experience that goes beyond the classroom. To inspire our pupils to not only excel academically but also develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills for the real world.

Supportive Community

The overriding element of LIT is that we believe in the power of community. Our inclusive and supportive environment encourages collaboration and a sense of belonging. We celebrate diversity and value the unique contributions of each individual.
