Dear Parent/Carer,
I’m pleased to report that we have seen a gradual increase in attendance over Spring term, which is partly due to more children arriving at school on time – well done to those families!
It is very important for all children to attend school every day and to arrive on time as this helps to establish a routine that nurtures discipline and responsibility. Children that are on time start the day settled, relaxed and ready to learn.
To support the best possible beginning to the school day we have a soft start, which works as follows:
- Breakfast club at 7:45am daily
- The playground gates open at 8.45am to enable children to make their way to class ready for an 8:55am start.
- All children from Reception to Year 6 and those attending Breakfast club, go to their classrooms independently from 8.45am.
- There are staff members in every class to welcome the children and start the pre-registration learning activities, eg reading, on arrival.
- Lessons start promptly after registration at 8:55am.
- Please note that any child arriving after 8:55am must report to the school office and is marked late.
If you are experiencing difficulty bringing your child to school on time, please speak with the school’s welfare officer in the first instance. Please note that persistent lateness causes your child to miss out on essential learning and may result in a penalty fine.
